Piano Services
We charge by the service, rather than by the hour. This allows us to focus on providing comprehensive, bundled services and not be limited by time. We always charge a site visit fee, which is why it’s encouraged to discuss services prior to a visit. Estimates can be provided ahead of time.
We will always provide any service of any size, but we recommend bundling services if your piano has not been worked on for a couple years, outside of tuning. Quotes can be offered ahead of time, providing estimates of time and additional costs due to repair parts.
We try to anticipate any situation that will require repeat visits and build that into the total quote.
Our priority is always the piano, providing care that maximizes longevity and performance. Each individual service builds on the next, which is why we try to focus on the whole piano and not only tuning. Cleaning uncovers Regulation needs. Regulation affects Voicing, Voicing affects Regulation. And everything affects the overall Tuning.
Cleaning and Inspections
We offer full Cleaning and Inspection services. These can be purchased separately or bundled together for a discounted price.
Cleaning includes removing dust, debris and foreign objects from the entire piano. Removing the action for a complete dust removal. Cleaning all keys and key bed. Removing corrosion from and polishing wires. Polishing pedals.
We will Inspect your entire piano to diagnose any issues or determine the overall health and lifespan of the instrument.
Piano Tuning
Full Tuning Services including minor tuning for individual keys or sections, Fine Tuning for the entire instrument, Pitch Raises for older pianos, and Temperament or Interval Tuning.
For any bundled services, saving for Tuning for last is highly recommended. We also try to consider the environment the Piano is in, looking at temperature and humidity control. This gives a good idea of how well the Piano can hold its tune and reduce repeat visits.
For any Moving Services, a discount is offered for a final tuning once the piano has reached its final destination.
Regulation
Our specialty is Regulation because it comes from a passion for playing the Piano. Regulation is entirely at the service of the player, and we strive to get the most out of your instrument.
Comprehensive Regulation including all aspects of Aftertouch in Uprights and Grands - Key Dip and Placement, Hammer Let-Off, Attack/Hammer Strike Distance, and Lost Motion.
For Grands, all additional elements of regulation are covered, starting with the Glide Board and then focusing on Synchronous Escapement, ensuring the repetition lever is functioning properly and that the Jack has received all its adjustments.
As part of Regulation services, we look at all perishable parts such as felt, hide, and bushings for replacement if necessary.
Voicing
For Voicing, we follow a “Do No Harm” philosophy, meaning that the preservation of the hammers (and felts) is the main priority.
Hammer Needling and Shaving is saved as a last resort, instead prioritizing Hammer Placement and Point of Attack, Contact of the Wire to the Bridges, proper Contact with Termination Points, and Humidity Treatment for especially hardened hammers.
Depending on the condition of the piano’s individual hammers, hammer placement as part of regulation may not be recommended unless Voicing is also needed.
Finally, we partner with various Piano dealers to ensure that any hammer replacements can be covered.
Repairs
We handle all kinds of repairs, focusing on preserving the original parts as much as possible or working with various vendors to find replacement parts.
We cover - Felt and Leather Replacement, Flange Rebushing, Wire Replacing/Splicing, Hammer and Shank Replacements, and others depending on the need
